1971 Volvo 1800E Coupe

This now rather rare 1800E Volvo has been in the current ownership for eighteen years. We understand that a previous owner was a relative of the Volvo Enthusiast Club founder and together, they recommissioned the motor car after a period of storage and it went on to win several awards at national club events. When the vendor purchased the car in 2006, it appeared to be largely original without any significant restoration carried out or required. The front chassis legs have been replaced in the current ownership, as have the springs and shock absorbers (in 2018) and the fuel lines (in 2022). There is a stainless steel exhaust fitted. MOT test certificates dating back to 1982 (at 6248 miles) seem to corroborate the mileage of 37000. The mechanics are described as being good order, the Volvo drives as it should and had an oil levels check / service in May of this year. The bodywork appears to be sound but the rear wheel arch edges do require some attention. The paintwork is presentable but would benefit from a refresh, having possibly been partially resprayed by a previous custodian.  We are informed that the sunroof was possibly fitted when new; it works well and does not leak. The carpet, upholstery and headlining are all described as being good, the front seats may have been recovered previously. There is a (common) split to the dashboard top vinyl. All instrumentation is in working order.

The substantial history file contains the purchase invoice for the current ownership, numerous MOT test certificates, a large number of servicing and parts invoices for the current ownership, handwritten history, a Hynes manual, two editions of the Volvo Enthusiasts Club bulletin featuring this car, a spare parts list, interesting magazine articles and clippings, an older V5C, the current V5C registration certificate and others.
