This 1928 16/6 was first registered in Australia in 1929 and was owned by a Miss Clarke of Williamstown from new until 1965. Supplied with the motor car are two lovely pictures of Miss Clarke with the Austin, one taken in the late Twenties or early Thirties and the other in the Sixties. Not much is known of its history until 2007 when a car collector from Nottinghamshire purchased the 16/6 and repatriated it to the UK. It has remained in his ownership ever since. The Austin has been well maintained mechanically but in recent years has been run very infrequently due to its owner’s poor health, but has remained in dry storage throughout.
The attractive fabric bodied motor car is very presentable and in sound and solid order. The steel wings and bonnet are good and the running boards are recent replacements. The underside is in good condition. The interior is very serviceable, the front seat has been reupholstered at some point, probably in the UK. At the moment, the Austin is a non-runner and we understand that a new battery is required.
The history file contains the aforementioned photographs, an HMRC import document, a dating document from The Society of Automotive Historians in Britain, sundry correspondence and the V5C registration certificate.
