The current custodian purchased this TR2 in 2019 as a project that had been fitted with TR4 headlamp surrounds and wings before being laid up in dry storage in approximately the late 1960s. We are told that the original engine, gearbox, axles and chassis etc.. all remained with the vehicle and have not been renewed. However, the TR4 panels were removed and the correct TR2 panels fitted, using parts acquired by its former owner as well as new parts from OEM Stanpart. Some localised repairs to the chassis were required and a Moss tubular rear spacer replaced the original. The body work has been professionally resprayed to a high standard in Triumph BRG. The interior has been completely renewed and is in immaculate order. The hood is also new. Instrumentation is in working order. Much of the chrome has been replated. The underside has apparently been protected with treatment wax and the chassis has been wax injected.

The mechanical aspect of the TR2 is, we understand, excellent and with no known faults and the sports car runs and drives well. The braking system has been comprehensively rebuilt and renewed as necessary, including the fitting of new copper pipe lines. The clutch was replaced and the master and slave cylinders overhauled, as were the twin SU carburettors. We are told that the engine bottom end was overhauled in the previous ownership. The vendor carried out a full recommissioning service with all new oils and filters. There is a new wiring loom, lights with LED bulbs for modern motoring.

The extensive history file contains invoices, an MOT test certificate, correspondence, insurance policy information and well-presented records on the motor car’s maintenance from the 1960s, together with a bill of sale from 1965, a vehicle inspection report from the Triumph Sports Six Club, DVLA correspondence, a spare parts catalogue, further invoices from the current ownership, a memory stick of images of the restoration, an RF60 continuation book and the V5C registration certificate. Also included are two workshop manuals and an Olyslager manual.
