A good solid economical and reliable saloon, the Vauxhall Viva was targeted at the small family car market. It was specified by models HA (1963–1966), HB (1966 – 1970) and HC (1970–1979). The first generation was powered by a four cylinder 1057cc overhead valve engine and benefitted from some very forward-thinking design details, such as its lightness of operation, its relative speed and good clear vision. The larger HB had a choice of bigger engines and was offered as either two or four door saloons, with the estate version arriving in 1967. The HC had further styling improvements for the Seventies motoring public and a larger interior, ideal for family transport.
This delightful HC Deluxe, resplendent in gold paintwork, has clearly led a sheltered life. With so few of these models in existence today, care and attention has obviously been lavished on the Viva and it is in good original condition throughout. Ideal as a starter classic, it is powered by the lively 1256cc engine driving through a manual four speed gearbox. We are informed by its enthusiast custodian that it sits on four recent new tyres, and has a new radiator and exhaust system.
A large history file is supplied with the motor car, which includes interesting Vauxhall memorabilia, a handbook, sundry MOT test certificates, some MOT test history and a Haynes servicing guide.
