In contrast to its wilder TR predecessors, the TR7 is a very pleasant all round open tourer, equally at home with long distance runs or a quick nip down to the supermarket. Its comfortable and spacious cockpit, sensible performance from its two litre, four cylinder engine, five speed manual gearbox and excellent road manners all make for a useable classic; think of it instead as an up-market Spitfire and you will be absolutely delighted.
From its MOT history, we can see that this 1981 TR7 resided in Sussex during the 1980s before moving to Northern Ireland in the early 1990s. It remained there up until approximately 2002. The sports car has been in the current ownership for a couple of years, but due to a lack of use, it is now available once again.
The interior is very tidy, the upholstery is generally in good order and the hood is serviceable and smart. The body does not suffer from the common tin worm problem, although there is some discolouration to the boot lid and a crack in the front bumper. Mechanically, we would recommend that the TR is serviced and that an engine tune-up is carried out.
The history file contains the original hand and maintenance books in their original wallet, together with tax discs, MOT test certificates (an almost complete run from 1985 to 2002 at 60893 miles), other documentation, a Haynes manual, a wiring diagram, a parts catalogue and the V5C registration certificate.
