Offering solid workmanship and dependability, Rovers of all generations appeal to those who appreciate performance, comfort and understated British design. From 1949 until 1964, Rover produced their P4 series of models. Completely restyled, the new range differed vastly from the pre-war designed P3, but inherited its predecessor’s four and six cylinder engines.
722 RPL has been in the current family ownership for twenty one years and has been well maintained by its motor engineer owners. Not to be confused with the average P4 suffering with tin worm, this example is good and solid, apart from some minor bubbling to the left hand front wing. The Rover sits well, which again is unusual as they are often low on the rear suspension, and it was the subject of a bare metal respray in 2000. The upholstery is original and in good condition, as is the headlining, carpets, dashboard and cappings. Mechanically, we understand all to be in good order. Hardened valve seats have been fitted, the brakes have been overhauled and fitted with a servo, and we are told that the transmission is very good.
The history file contains handbooks, invoices, MOT test certificates and the V5C registration certificate. A number of spare parts are included in the sale, together with a radiator muff.
