The Mini Cooper of the 1960’s is fondly remembered as not so much a luxury form of transport, but a diabolical little road burner with a willing heart, which could be thrown about with absolute abandonment to the positive delight perhaps of your mini- skirted companion. The later S versions were quicker still and performed well on road and indeed on the track, where they mixed it with much larger and more powerful Jaguars and Mustangs etc. There was no class barrier to the Mini. You could take it to The Savoy Grill or the Ace Café.
Here we have an amazing example of the Mini Cooper, fifty odd years on, still wearing that lovable and mischievous look, but oh how different. The obvious features include two individual Cobra style seats, wooden dashboard with Halfords sports steering wheel, Minilite Alloys and all sorts of bits and pieces like chromed grill buttons, alloy door handles, gear knob and pedals.
What you cannot see at first glance, however, is that the engine has been uprated with a Stage 4 big valve cylinder head, a red alloy rocker cover, Maniflow exhaust manifold and stainless steel system, a KAD Quickshift gear change, an alternator, and central locking with alarm system.
Recent expenditure includes over £4,000 last December on body refurbishment including a new rear subframe. Please do look at the accompanying vast history file, which is not only very comprehensive, but most of it is actually legible. There is also a V5C registration certificate and a fresh MOT.
This is a Mini not to be missed- assuming you can catch it in the first place.
