1967 MG Midget Mk III

Produced from 1961 until 1980, the Midget was an evolution of the Austin-Healey Sprite, inheriting its suspension of double wishbones and coil springs, together with the Sprite’s rear axle. The Midget also utilised the Morris Minor’s rack-and-pinion steering and hydraulic rear brakes. There were four generations of the Midget; arriving in 1966, the Mk III inherited features from the Mk II such as a larger windscreen, wind-up windows, opening quarter lights, outside door handles and locks, and a restyled dashboard, as well as a 1275cc engine.

This pretty Midget was the subject of a quality restoration with excellent panel fit and paint finish, and was purchased by the vendor on completion in 1990. Photographs of the restoration, included in the history file, reveal that the work was major and to a high standard. In recent years, the MG has been in dry storage, so will now require some recommissioning; however, we understand that the motor car starts and runs. The early model, with slated grille, body mouldings and deep bumpers, has a serviceable double-duck hood, a tidy interior, a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, and apart from a cosmetic paint fault to the front of the bonnet, the bodywork remains in good condition.

With too many current projects, the vendor has reluctantly decided to part with his MG, which is supplied with a history file containing the V5C registration certificate, the aforementioned restoration photographs in an album, a professional large photograph of the motor car and sundry documentation.
