1980 MG B GT

Launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1965, the MGB GT complemented the MGB Roadster launched two years previously, and became a popular choice for those wanting a reasonably priced sports car with an added degree of practicality.

This smart, late B GT was first registered in Southampton. It has had three previous owners; the last custodian embarked on a major photographic body restoration, carried out by an MG specialist. The current motor engineer owner has continued to maintain the MG to a high standard since 2015, and has made further improvements. The motor car is fitted with new carpets and door cards, re-built front seats, a new water pump and hoses, new clutch master and slave cylinders, a new alternator, electronic ignition, a new starter motor and ignition leads and coil. A braking system overhaul has also been carried out with new discs installed, and the ‘B’ has had new shock absorbers, suspension bushes and new headlamps in the last two years. At some point, the MG was fitted with a sunroof, which we understand to be waterproof.

The large history file supplied includes the original passport to service and handbook, a large quantity of invoices, MOT test certificates and the aforementioned photographs.

FAA 255W is an ideal starter classic, which could be enjoyed as daily transport and represents excellent value for money.
