1998 Jaguar XJ8 Auto Saloon

The long running XJ 6 saloons paved the way for the marque to become renowned for its very comfortable ride, said to be as good if not better than the equivalent Bentley or Rolls-Royce. By the time the XK8 arrived in 1997 as the final bid to use the XJ40 platform, engines had become V8s of 3.2 and 4 litre instead of the long lived straight six and huge V12 , 5 litre. All models received alloy wheels, leather trim, air conditioning and a walnut fascia plus the usual refinements as before.

This particular motor car was purchased in 2007 by its current custodian and has had just four owners in total, two of which were from one family. It is finished in burgundy with oatmeal leather upholstery and trim, and has the four litre V8 engine driving through a five speed automatic gearbox. An MOT test certificate is current until December 2021. Recent expenditure has included the fitting of a new alternator, front anti-roll links and new front shock absorbers; the ABS control module was repaired by a specialist and the XK was the subject of a full service.  The interior of the motor car is pristine and the bodywork exceptional, apart from a small dent on the top of the rear right hand quarter panel.

A large history file is supplied, together with handbooks, the V5C registration certificate and its replacement.

These refined Jaguars offer exceptional value for money in the current times. We will in due course consider them as classics, as we have their forebears, so are we talking investment opportunity?
