Daimler was one of Britain’s oldest Motor Manufacturers, based in Coventry and with a Royal Warrant to provide Motor Cars for our Monarchy from 1902 until usurped by Rolls Royce in the 1950’s. From the 1960’s Jaguar Cars took over the Daimler name and produced up market versions of their own motor cars, badged as Daimlers. The XJ40 appeared in 1986 and was offered with either a 2.9 or 3.6 litre engine. The entire model was built to an extremely high specification.
Late Daimlers of the Eighties offer excellent value for money nowadays and this example is no exception; in beautiful unmarked condition, and described as being good in most departments, this now rare XJ40 3.6 Saloon has obviously led a cosseted life. The motor car has covered some 31400 miles, which would be considered by many as just run in. Finished in Bordeaux Red with cream leather upholstery, the Daimler boasts all the usual refinements associated with the marque: picnic tables, electric seats and sunroof air conditioning (which will require replenishment), alloy road wheels and a stainless steel exhaust system.
The history file includes the original sales brochure and original sales invoice, handbooks in the original leather wallet, a full service history, correspondence, invoices and the V5C registration certificate.
