1940 Armstrong-Siddeley 16hp Six-Light Saloon

Armstrong-Siddeley of Coventry has long been associated with good quality engineering and during the war, the company was involved in aircraft manufacturing. This 16hp saloon must have been one of the last to be built prior to switching to war work. The elegant six-light saloon coachwork is powered by a straight six cylinder engine of 2107cc, which drives through a Wilson pre-select gearbox. Many cars of the period used the pre-select system, particularly Lanchester, Daimler and Riley, and racing cars such as the ERA.

PV 6649 was acquired some 50 years ago by the present 94 year old owner, but the vehicle has remained in his garage for much of that time and has never been taken out in the wet. The coachwork appears sound although the paintwork will need attention. The interior is remarkably good; the blue leather seats have survived well and door cards were being replaced. The headlining appears to have been renewed and the wooden dashboard looks good, with correct instrumentation. The shock absorbers have been removed and will require checking and refitting, as will various small items of trim etc.  

Clearly a certain amount of re-commissioning will be required as the Armstrong-Siddeley has not run for some while, but this is a rare motor car and would be well worth returning to the road. The two-owner motor car appears to be complete and the vendor believes the mileage of 57000 to be correct. Apparently the engine turns.
