Launched in 1957 from the Meriden factory, the Twenty One was the first Triumph unit construction with twin cylinder 349cc engine of Edward Turner design and featured a 360 degree crankshaft, twin gear driven camshafts and twin plunger oil pumps. The block was of cast iron with aluminium head and separate rocker boxes. A four speed gearbox was added with right foot lever. In 1959 the Twenty One was rebranded as the 3TA and received the fully enclosed ‘bathtub’ rear end, much disliked in the USA where it was invariably removed.
This example was finished in silver blue and has a dual seat; mechanically, we are told that it is up together. It has formed part of a substantial private collection, but the vendor has decided to shake up his stable a little and therefore we offer the Triumph to the market. A V5C registration certificate accompanies the motorcycle.
