The Porsche 944 was produced from 1982 to 1991 as a development of the 924, but was equipped with a number of refined details. In 1985, the 944 went through some major design and mechanical changes, and the 1987 model was further upgraded with anti-lock brakes and air bags, followed two years later with an increased engine size of 2.7 litres, as well as different cylinder head enabling larger valves. The ‘super’ S2 variant of that year boasted an even larger 3 litre unit, and was the largest four cylinder engine of the era.
With just three previous owners, this smart S2’s current custodian is a retired race engineer and Porsche enthusiast, who has maintained the sports car to a high standard since 2006. In 1994, the engine was rebuilt by the Porsche Centre in Guildford, and continues to run sweetly after covering some 100,000 miles. The sixteen valve unit has been fitted with new operating valve gear. Cosmetically, we understand the bodywork to be tidy, and the interior remains original and in generally good condition. New seals have been fitted to the working sunroof. The Porsche sits on its original road wheels and correct type tyres.
The very original example is supplied with a history file containing the V5C registration certificate, a service book and wallet, invoices and MOT test certificates.
