Alec Issigonis’s design for a simple means of family transport arrived in 1949 in the shape of the MM series Morris Minor, boasting integral construction, rack and pinion steering and torsion bar independent front suspension, setting new standards in popular motor car handling. By January 1961, one million had left the production line and many survive today, amply catered for by specialist companies throughout the country. Engines grew from an initial 803cc to a dizzy 1098cc, driving through a four speed manual synchromesh gearbox.
Originally supplied by Westover Garage Ltd of Bournemouth, we understand that this two door Saloon is a good solid example and largely original; it has not been ‘got at’ by an enthusiast and their over-zealous modernisations. Lack of use is the reason given by the current custodian for his parting with the motor car and he describes it as good in most departments with no known mechanical faults; we understand that it may benefit from some cosmetic improvement, but with a little fettling, the next owner should end up with a nice original Moggie, ready for summer club events.
A history file supplied with the Minor includes the V5C registration certificate, a large quantity of MOT test certificates dating back to 1964, the ‘Morris Warranty’, the original service voucher book, the Morris schedule of repair charges, hand written notes with reference to repairs and others.
