The A5 model was the last of the CD175s, a phenomenally successful commuter motorcycle range that was sold throughout the world from 1967. It was powered by a four stroke, parallel twin air cooled engine with a single chain-driven overhead camshaft. Ease of maintenance also added to the machine’s many attributes.
The current custodian discovered VKX 935S in a dilapidated shed in Bedfordshire in 1999. The original UK model was corroded and had obviously been there for some time. With fresh engine oil, a replacement fuel tap and a carburettor clean, the Honda started immediately and ran surprisingly well.
New-old stock mudguards, wheel rims, fork shrouds and exhausts were sourced and fitted. From 2000 until 2005, the motorcycle was ridden occasionally.
In 2011, the Candy Ruby Red areas of the Honda were repainted by JBS Bike Paints of Yeovil. The machine remains in good running order and has formed part of an extensive private motorcycle collection since 1999.
The CD175 A5 is supplied with the V5C registration certificate and past MOT test certificates.
