It is fair to say that the thoroughbred motorcyclists of the fifties and sixties with engine oil running through their veins were probably never going to trade their Triumphs or their Vincents for a Velocette LE. But then the LE was for the everyman, transporting its rider safely and reliably on the roads of post-war Britain; indeed, your writer can remember a vicar and a policeman benefitting from the LE’s reliability.
Another example of this quirky little motorcycle, nicely presented in green and grey, with a dual seat in black and usefully equipped with a luggage carrier. The Velo has formed part of a private collection in the West Country and we understand that mechanically, the motorcycle is in good order. Silent power comes from a four stroke, water cooled flat twin, giving some 8hp. The gearbox has a foot change. There is a modern V5C registration certificate with the motorcycle.
