1969 Vanden Plas 1300 Princess

This VDP Princess was dispatched in May 1969 to Austin / Morris distributor Colmore Depot Limited in Birmingham. By 1987 it resided in Sutton Coldfield and it appears that the motor car remained in that immediate area until at least 2012, carefully maintained by its then owner. The current enthusiast custodian purchased the Princess more recently and has in the last year spent over £2000 on mechanical and some panel maintenance. We understand that work included a full service and a suspension check, and parts fitted included a spark plug set, filters, points, a condenser, steering rack, bonnet cable, stainless exhaust silencer, battery mounting clamp and a new battery.

Mechanically, the motor car is now described as being very good, with a good automatic gearbox and overall with no known faults (although apparently the exhaust manifold requires some attention).  The body and paintwork could be improved; it is described as generally fair apart from some bubbling on the doors. The beige leather interior is good for its age, the carpets are good and instrumentation is in working order.

The history file contains a BMIHT dating certificate, interesting history on BMC, MOT test certificates every year from 1974 to 1987 plus several MOT inspection reports, further MOTs from 2012 , invoices, two driver’s handbooks, a manual, a V5 document, and the V5C registration certificate.
