1996 Mazda MX-5 Merlot Special Edition with Hardtop

This Mazda in Special Edition guise has been well maintained throughout its life, as evidenced in the history file. It has been carefully stowed away in dry storage and only taken out in fine weather by the current custodian of five years, and is for sale now due to a relocation abroad.

A new mohair hood was fitted in 2015 and new timing covers, cam belt and water pump in 2018. The left hand shock absorber was replaced in 2019, as were the inner and outer wheel arch and sill panels. We understand that a brake overhaul was also carried out. A new right front wing was fitted in 2022 and last year, a battery and new master and slave cylinders were fitted, the underside was Waxoyled and new wood veneer was installed in the interior.

Mechanically now, the Mazda is described as being very good with no known faults. The body work is very presentable with good shut lines. The paintwork is generally very good but the hardtop paint could be improved - it does though have a functioning heated rear screen. The vendor tells us that the hood is in good condition, and the upholstery is serviceable.

The history files contain the handbook bundle and service book in the original wallet, restoration photographs, a sales brochure, service history, many invoices, almost all MOT test certificates from 1999, and the V5C registration certificate.
