1990 Rover Mini Cooper

With just three owners from new, the current female custodian purchased the motor car in 2007 locally in south Somerset. Whilst the original upholstery required only a good clean, the bodywork was less than perfect due to the dreaded tin worm and so a total restoration commenced. In 2011, a new British Motor Heritage body shell, complete with doors, bonnet and boot lid, was fitted and finished in the original colours of British Racing Green metallic with a white roof, mirrors, coachline and decals. Due to the fact that the Mini had been laid up for almost ten years, all ancillaries were replaced with B.M Heritage parts, including the front and rear subframes, radius arm pins on the rear suspension, ball joints, track rod ends, the steering rack, subframe mountings and shock absorbers. The motor car was also equipped with an adjustable ‘Hi-Lo’ suspension.

The water pump, wiring loom, alternator, clutch assembly, the braking system and all hoses and pipes were also replaced. The interior was refurbished with a new headlining and carpets, whilst the aforesaid original Racing Crayons upholstery and trims were scrupulously scrubbed! The Mini sits on the correct alloys and tyres, the spare wheel is steel and the special exhaust system consists of an LCB manifold with an RC40 tail system.

The large comprehensive history file contains a handbook signed by John Cooper, the original handbooks and wallet, Mini Cooper Register information, newspaper cuttings, numerous invoices, the Vincents of Yeovil sales invoice (for the second owner), old MOT test certificates, road tax discs, the V5 document, the V5C registration certificate and its replacement.

The owner of this superb Mini Cooper assures us that it is ‘better than new’ and will include its special registration number, H15 MYN, in the sale.
