In the 1950s when the going was still tough after World War II, many men and women cycled to work as driving a motor car during the working week was an unaffordable luxury. Many breadwinners sensibly turned to Autocycles and small motorcycles as a means of economical transport. Motorised bicycles became popular - such as the Cyclemaster and adapted bicycles such as the example we have here: a rare 49cc Power Pac engine unit fitted to a Raleigh Superbe Sports Tourist.
This machine we understand has had four owners and has a 21” frame, a Brooks leather saddle, stainless steel rims, lighting and a prop. We are told that a Rolls-Royce engineer carried out the restoration of the bicycle and fitted the Power Pak engine and special reinforced rear wheel and tyre. It is supplied with the V5C registration certificate and a copy of the Power Pak dealer folder, full of useful data.
