Part of the Raleigh group, Phillips mopeds were produced in the late 1950s and early sixties, powered by Rex and Villiers engines. The Gadabout and Panda continued in Raleigh’s own brand name and were built under licence as the Mobylette by Mótobecane of France.
This Somerset registered Gadabout has a mileage of 3141, which we presume to be correct as the road tax disc on the machine expired in October 1971. The current custodian understands that it has been in long term storage and although it now requires restoration, it appears to be complete and will be an interesting project for its next custodian. Power is provided by the reliable and dependable Villiers 3K 50cc engine and a two speed gearbox. A V5C registration certificate has been applied for.
