1966 MG B Roadster

Probably the most widely recognisable of all British classics, the MG B’s appeal stretches far and wide, from first time classic car enthusiasts with limited budgets to more experienced collectors and competitors. At the time of its launch back in 1962, it was something of a phenomenon for the motoring classes of Britain; not only stylishly designed both as a GT Coupe and ‘Roadster’, the MG B was also practical and affordable, and became one of the most desirable cars on Britain’s roads. Production of the ‘B’ ended with the closure of the Abingdon plant in 1980 after a total of 513,000 motor cars had been manufactured.

In the current ownership since 2002 (with a mileage of 102500), and with just one previous owner, this early B Roadster now has an odometer reading of 107700 miles. In 2005, the hood was replaced and two years later, a major body refurbishment was carried out by Unicorn Motor Company of north Dorset, which included the replacement of many panels and a complete respray. In 2010, both front seats were renewed, followed by the steering wheel in 2012. A tonneau cover is supplied with the ‘B’ and we understand the exhaust to be stainless steel. Regular servicing has been carried out in the current ownership and recent attention has included the renewal of both the dual temperature/oil pressure gauge and the starter solenoid. The vendor has been honest in pointing out that the rev counter is defective and that the left-hand quarter light catch is no longer present, but overall, the Roadster is in smart usable condition, ready to be enjoyed this summer.

The history file includes a quantity of invoices, MOT test certificates dating back to 2003, an MG B advertisement, road tax discs, the VE60 registration book, a V5 document and the V5C registration certificate and its replacement.
