Of all the post-war sports cars, the MGA ranks amongst the prettiest, and the Fixed Head Coupe sublimely compliments the lines of the Roadster in its own distinctive style. Our erratic weather conditions would now appear to favour the closed Coupe over the open roadster and this could account for the comparative rise in its popularity.
The Coupe on offer in this sale will be of particular interest to those seeking an honest and well maintained example, which has been in the current ownership for some ten years. Used carefully and regularly serviced by a classic car specialist, it is little wonder that the car drove beautifully on our visit. The general appearance is tidy although there is a slight variance in the paintwork on the bonnet and a few blemishes, to be expected in a ten year period of use since restoration. The cockpit is very attractive and light, with biscuit leather and grey carpeting. Headlining is probably original.
The dashboard has the nice period style with correct and functioning instrumentation, and is equipped with the original steering wheel.
The motor car sits on standard steel wheels with good tyres. The engine bay is tidy and the vendor tells us that engine and running gear are all good and indeed when offered a test drive, this appeared true, so much so that there was some reluctance to end the experience.
DCU 999 is supplied with a V5C registration document and workshop manual. An MG Car Club tool kit is included.
