c.1935 Freddie Grubb Sports Bicycle

This Freddie Grubb bicycle was originally custom built for Mr J F Ursell in the 1930s, who unbelievably used to cycle from Cheltenham to Bavaria and Switzerland, carrying with him all the necessary equipment for camping en route plus the appropriate climbing gear of the era. Ownership of the bicycle eventually passed to his son and it has been restored well, retaining the original front and rear lamps, bell and cape holder etc.

There is a file of memorabilia supplied with the bicycle to illustrate its pre-war journeys, including photographs of the trips and of the glaciers.
