This 850 was not the standard Fiat Coupe at the time, but a special edition by Bertone and wasn’t it pretty? With an 850cc engine in the rear it was surprisingly quick in normal road use but not many know how well it performed in the MCC Trials of the day. Sadly not too many have survived but here is a chance to enjoy one that has.
Clearly the body of this example has been resprayed at some time. There is evidence of some micro blistering but the basic coachwork is sound and solid. The black vinyl trim is generally good with the original headlining intact. The two circular instruments have a Ferrari- style appeal and add much to the sporting nature.
Recent work includes a brake overhaul in the last 25 miles. The tyres have only covered some 20 miles we are told. The radiator core has been replaced. Some re chroming would be desirable to the bumpers, a spruce up in the engine bay and attention to a bit of surface corrosion on the exhaust would be good, but the vendor states the only real issue lies with a recalcitrant heater. This coupe is rare and a little attention would surely be worthwhile.
There is a large folder of receipts and invoices with the car. Photographs of restoration and a Haynes Workshop manual are included plus a current V5C registration certificate showing only one former keeper.
Certainly a little coupe to nurture and enjoy, and sensibly reserved accordingly.
