Roaring onto the motoring scene in 1952, the first ‘Big’ Healey was the ‘100’, capable of reaching a dizzying 100mph. Hugely stylish, well-engineered and popular, the model range evolved into the 1956 ‘100/6’, that was in turn succeeded by the ‘3000’ in 1959. The trio of gorgeous Austin-Healeys are now highly desirable and as a result, their values are rocketing; for the marque enthusiast, there are alternatives that leave a smaller dent in the pocket.
Not to be confused with an inferior kit car, this Austin-Healey 100/4 Replica was manufactured by Woodley Engineering of South Africa, in 1994. Some forty models were produced and built to a very high standard, using mainly Datsun 260Z components, which included the engine unit, the five speed gearbox, independent front suspension and front disc brakes. The sports car also benefits from Jaguar instrumentation, a Ford rear axle and brakes, a Woodley Engineering chassis and a GRP body.
The exciting sports car has been in the current ownership for twenty years and is regrettably being offered now only due to unforeseen circumstances. The vendor assures us that it is a pleasure to drive with no known faults and at a fraction of the price of a genuine Austin-Healey, the super motor has head-turning appeal and attracts much attention wherever it travels.
Good weather equipment is supplied, together with a South African registration certificate, export documentation and the HMRC NOVA import notification certifying that VAT and duty has been paid. The paperwork in the file should assist with the new owner’s application to DVLA for a UK registration number.
