1981 Volkswagen Golf Mk I GLS Cabriolet

As the world’s second best-selling model, the Volkswagen Golf has achieved something of a cult status. It was initially conceived as a front engined replacement of the Beetle and the first generation Golf appeared in 1974 to wide acclaim. The model range’s longevity must be due to its versatility; from family estate to hot hatch, the VW Golf has evolved for forty years to become widely regarded as a modern classic.

This first generation Golf has been in the current ownership for some thirteen years and is available only due to a change in circumstances. It is in running condition with an almost-new MOT test certificate, a fresh service and a new battery. The hood is in very tidy condition, the original cloth upholstery and carpets would benefit from a good clean and although the paintwork could be improved and there is corrosion in the right hand front wing, the sporting car should prove to be a cracking winter project for a Golf enthusiast.

There is a good history with the VW, including handbooks, invoices and the V5C registration certificate.
