Early Winter 2016 Results
An exciting selection of vintage and classic cars, automobilia and memorabilia was offered at Dorset Vintage and Classic Auctions’ final sale of 2016 on the 23rd of November. Heading the line-up was a 1959 Jaguar XK150SE Fixed Head Coupe that found a new home in the Midlands for £60775, and an exceptional 1934 Austin 10/4 Cabriolet with a vast history, that sold for £20625. The surprise of the sale was the 1972 Austin Minor Van that made £10450; the 1974 MG B GT and 1971 MG B Roadster both headed off with their new custodians to Hampshire and selling for £9130, the 1968 Daimler V8 250 Saloon now resides in Cornwall. All motorcycles in the auction sold well, especially the very unusual 1964 Raleigh Runabout RM6 that made a healthy £1128. Amongst the other sales, the rare 1922 Fiat 501 Tourer by Melbourne Motor Bodies, in need of some mechanical attention, sold to a local enthusiast for £8360. The automobilia department offered an equally eclectic mix of ephemera; most notably, twelve War Service equipment glass road warning signs from Shaftesbury were purchased by a film company for £460, a 1929 American petrol pump fetched £470, and the auction house sold numerous sales brochures, handbooks (including Rolls-Royce and Bentley) and models.
