1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL with Hardtop

Renowned for their build quality and long-legged cruising ability, the Mercedes-Benz SL models offer great comfort and effortless power. A low mileage example is particularly desirable, sporting as it does both hard and soft tops and a virtually one family owned history. We are told that in fact the current owner’s mother bought the motor car when it was just two years old and it was then passed to him in 2008. Although precise paperwork is not present to support the mileage, the family are confident that the odometer reading of just under 66000 miles is correct.

The motor car was resprayed in 2009 in the original blue colour. The cream leather interior is in very good order and we are informed that the blue hood has rarely been used and remains almost as new. The hardtop was not fitted to the motor car when it was inspected but we are assured that it is in original and in good, serviceable condition. There is some slight damage to the right hand rear chrome bumper finisher, otherwise, the Mercedes is very smart. The standard road wheels had new tyres fitted around twelve months ago and a new radiator has recently been fitted.

Mechanically, we understand that the 3839cc V8 engine drives well through the automatic gearbox and that the motor car runs and performs as it should. The vendor has disclosed an electrical fault with the brake warning light, which stays on despite the braking system having been carefully checked.

The history file includes past MOT test certificates (as well as the current), invoices and the V5C registration certificate.
