Inspired by the American Willys Jeep, the Rover Company introduced the Land Rover Series 1 80 inch in 1948. It was adaptable, durable and soon became a popular utility vehicle both in the UK and overseas. These models have now become a cult classic – sought after by enthusiasts who find the vehicles equally suited to everyday use as they are to special occasions and historic rallies.
We understand that this ex. Military 109” Land Rover was the subject of a refurbishment and refit in 2015. A year later, further work was carried out to the braking system, which included the fitting of new brake pipes and shoes. A new head gasket was also installed, as was a new exhaust system, and the steering system was inspected and overhauled. The underside was also cleaned and undersealed. A service has recently been carried out and the Land Rover is equipped with two new Avon tyres and we are told that overall, it is in good, reliable condition. The odometer reading of some 38000 miles cannot be verified, but the vendor believes that it may indeed be accurate, given the condition of the vehicle. We are informed that this purposeful looking vehicle is fitted with freewheel front hubs and interestingly, the original Military number plates 45 ER 18 are supplied, together with the V5C registration certificate. Equipment includes two full length bench seats, the original radio units on the front wing panels, four aerials, and a gun rack behind the front seats.
