Purchased about 15 years ago by the current owner as a standard saloon in very poor order, this TA21 has been stripped to the chassis with the intention of rebuilding as a sporting special. The chassis itself was found to be quite sound but the engine was seized and coachwork beyond redemption. Fortunately a later and more powerful TD21 engine with twin carburettors was acquired and rebuilt as per the invoice on the accompanying file. This now can be made to run, but ear defenders are recommended as the exhaust will need modification to fit the later unit. This six cylinder engine was to remain in production until 1967 and was known for its smooth and powerful performance.
There are some of the original instruments with the car, but apart from the engine itself, nothing more is known and no doubt brakes, cooling system and tyres will need attention.
Fortunately the car comes with a modern V5C registration document and a copy of the previous V5.
A great opportunity and a good basis on which to develop a one off Special to your own design and specification hopefully with same degree of success as others have enjoyed using the same TA/TD21 running gear.
Addendum: There is a quantity of original spare parts supplied with the project, including the bonnet assembly and others.
